As someone who's anxiety has manifested frustratingly over the last two years, it's helpful to recognize that the environment and our addiction to social media plays a part. And makes me at least feel as though I can have a little control over some aspects that make it worse.

"But collective power can shift this, from the individual choices that accumulate into cultural shifts." YES!! I literally just wrote about this.

This is also something Jonathan Haidt talks a lot about in The Righteous Mind: Why Good People are Divided on Religion and Politics. We underestimate how actually feeling smaller and experiencing awe and connection, removing ourselves from devices that dispense negative headlines every hour, can actually help us feel less anxious, and therefore, not overthink as much.
