Novels have been a revelation for me this year Samaiya! I had always read nonfiction before. I only read a few novels this year but my favorite was Black Buck - about a black man working in sales, it was so entertaining!
I think I needed to read this. Very accurate, one of my goals is actually to immerse - or should I say re-immerse - myself reading longform content be it blogs, articles & ofcourse - books! Currently reading 'Maybe You Should Talk to Someone'
Couldn’t agree more! Plus how rewarding does finishing a novel feel in this day and age?! Please read Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi next!! I read it years ago and I still have certain paragraphs stored in my mind - really beautiful writing!
I enjoyed Homeseeking! It hasn't gotten enough love from the literary community this year. Fully agree with your point about novels being like kale for the mind. Shortform content has its time and place — from a true YouTube addict — but novels are so good for building empathy.
